DRAWING NIGHT with artist Danilo Correale

Join us for the last Drawing Night of the season, with artist Danilo Correale, held in collaboration with the Italian Institute of Culture and the International Studio & Curatorial ProgramWe open CIMA’s unique and intimate setting to artists, students, and others interested in trying their hand at studying these works through drawing — interacting with, analyzing, and drawing inspiration from Giorgio de Chirico and Giulio Paolini’s art.

Danilo Correale, winner of the 2017 Premio New York and an ISCP 2017 artist in residence, will lead the event, working in collaboration with artist Walter Benjamin Smith. The program will begin with an immersive art experience designed by Correale, interacting with the exhibition. Participants will have the opportunity to sketch for approximately an hour, before coming back together to discuss the works and share insights into what was learned in the process.

Paper has been provided by the legendary Italian papermaker Fabriano, who recently celebrated the 750th anniversary of papermaking in Fabriano, Italy.

About the artist:

Danilo Correale is an artist and researcher born in 1982 Naples, Italy, he lives and works in New York and Napoli. In his work he analyzes aspects of human life, such as labor-leisure, and sleep under the lenses of time and body. His work has been presented in numerous group exhibitions, including 16th Rome Quadriennal, Palazzo delle Esposizioni, Pigs, Artium Museum, Spain (2016), Ennesima, Trienniale Milano (2015), Kiev Biennial, Kiev (2015), Museion, Bolzano (2015) Per-formare una collezione, Madre Museum Naples (2014), Steirischer herbst, Graz, (2013) Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo, Turin (2012), Manifesta 8 in Murcia/Cartagena (2010), Moscow Biennial, Moscow (2010), Istanbul Biennial, Istanbul (2009). Recent solo shows: Tales of Exhaustion. La Loge, Brussels BE (2016) The Missing hour. Correale is the founder of the Decelerationist Reader and a regular contributor to publications in the field of critical theory. He is the winner of 2017 Premio New York, a prize awarded to young Italian artists by the Italian government.
