MEMBERS ONLY!

Join us on June 1 for a private visit to the recently installed Giorgio de Chirico gallery at the Museum of Modern Art, led by curatorial assistant Talia Kwartler. MoMA holds one of the most extensive collections of de Chirico’s Metaphysical-era paintings, including such iconic works as The Song of Love (1913-14), The Anxious Journey (1913), Great Metaphysical Interior (1917), and more. A number of these works were collected by James Thrall Soby, who became one of the foremost experts on de Chirico’s early works and authored the first important study on de Chirico in the United States. MoMA, with Soby and Alfred Barr, played a critical role in shaping the American reception of the artist—a topic that is a central subject for study this season at CIMA.
