Who am I?

My name is Lilliana LoGiudice and I grew up in San Carlos, California. I am currently a senior at Sarah Lawrence College studying Italian, Statistics/Data Science, and Film. One of my biggest passions is dancing, and I have danced since the age of 5. I love traveling, and growing up I traveled Europe with my family multiple times, and I just came back from studying abroad in Florence, Italy for the academic year of 2022-2023. I will graduate from Sarah Lawerence College in May of 2024.

How did I become interested in Art History?

I became interested in Art History last year during my time in Florence, Italy. I took a course entitled “Estetica” (Aesthetics) in which we studied ancient and contemporary art including sculpture, paintings, and architecture. Throughout the duration of the course, there would be class trips in which we explored some of the most famous sites and art works in Florence, and it allowed me to appreciate the art that was around me, something I didn’t necessarily do before. I became very interested in understanding the cultural significance of Italy and how its history is centered around art. Something that really inspired me was the fact that we studied antique and ancient Italian and Florentine artists with the inclusion of contemporary artists. I was exposed to works of art during World War II as well as those of the Renaissance. Since then, I have only wanted to expand my knowledge of the Italian art world.

What do I hope to gain from my experience at CIMA?

In my time working with CIMA, I am looking forward to improving my knowledge of the Italian language, culture, and history. I have studied Italian for the past 3 years, and talking with the staff here at CIMA is such a wonderful experience for engaging and practicing with the language, as well as the culture. For the Fall/Winter session, I will be working on the exhibition featuring Corrado Cagli, and I am excited to learn more about who he is and his influence on Italian culture as well as his influence on New York City. The experience of being an intern here will also allow me to develop higher skills in marketing, organization, communication, and public speaking, which I am really looking forward to.

What do I like to do in my free time?

In my free time I love to read, listen to music, and watch movies. I read mostly romance novels and murder mystery novels, as well as classic books in Italian from authors such as Primo Levi and books such as Il Gattopardo. Music has a very special place in my heart, as I not only love to listen to it but I also studied it for many years. I love listening to all different types of music including Jazz, Rock, Classical, R&B, Alternative, and Pop. Music from the 50s to 80s is where my love of music began. Movies are also core to who I am. 80s movies were the first types of movies I interacted with and since then I have been expanding my knowledge of American and European films, which was one of my concentrations while studying abroad in Florence, Italy.
